What should I bring to an immigration interview?
When deciding what to bring to an immigration interview, keep in mind that the immigration interview is designed for the officer to see if you are eligible for the benefit you are seeking.
Always bring a full copy of everything that you filed for your application. It is required to take your passport (and green card) to the immigration interview, as your visa or proof of status might be stamped in the passport.
Carry the originals of the documents you used to enter the U.S., and any other documents you have received from the U.S. consulate or USCIS. If you have mailed copies of documents to USCIS such as marriage and birth certificates, carry the originals.
If anything important in your life has changed since filing the application, bring appropriate documentation. If you or your spouse have a new or different job, bring a new employment letter and copies of recent pay stubs. If a tax year has passed, bring a copy of your latest tax returns or IRS transcript. Even if nothing has changed, it is recommended to bring latest pay stub to prove that you are financially stable.
Have it all organized in a binder, or hire a lawyer before you file so that you don’t have to worry about anything!
